My passion for floral design was set in motion before I was born, when my mom and uncle started a local farm stand in Newbury, Massachusetts. I grew up in Tendercrop Farm’s fields plucking and studying the beautiful colors, textures and smells. To this day the smell of marigolds takes me back to those summer fields. Some of my fondest memories are in those fields and going into the flower market in Boston, walking through the aisles of flowers in awe.
In 2016 I graduated from the University of New Hampshire with a major in History and a minor in Anthropology. A year and a half out of college I was working an unimaginative job, toying with the notion of becoming a curator, but knowing I wanted to start my own business like the rest of my family. I had yet to discover what my business would be. I would pick up flowers from time to time at the local grocery store and make arrangements for my family and friends as a hobby. In November of 2017 I was asked to make my first bridal bouquet for a town hall ceremony of a friend. At the time I didn't know it but that bridal bouquet would be my way into the wedding industry and the start of Savvy Flowers.
It wasn't until the following Valentine's Day that I found myself with 20 bouquet orders and realized I was onto something. Friends who had seen pictures asked if I would do their wedding flowers. That first trip back to the flower market, I was hit with nostalgia and I loved it. I chose the flowers, processed them, arranged them, coordinated the day of, and felt the adrenaline of those few days before and during the wedding and I knew it was the job for me. After that I officially established my business and after a few years mixed with trial and error, I now have a workshop and consultation area on my father’s farm in Ipswich, Massachusetts.
I'm motivated by passion and eager to grow my business. I'm always researching new and creative ideas to stay current with the latest flower trends. I work with each couple to construct the best design that suits their budget and vision. After hours of meticulous planning, each flower is hand picked from the market to make beautiful and cohesive arrangements that each season has to offer. Some of the kindest feedback I’ve heard is that I have found my life’s work. I am so passionate about this business and so lucky to have found an industry where I feel so at home. Starting a business has its trials and tribulations but I have poured my heart and soul into Savvy Flowers and look forward to sharing my dream with new clients for years to come.
